Jewel Loan Software for Pawn Shops & Finance Businesses

The jewellery half of a jewel loan: every piece recorded on its own with purity, weight and a photograph, stored in a named locker, and given back intact when the loan closes.

A jewel loan is a loan against things, not against a number

The money side of a jewel loan looks like any other gold loan, and it is covered on the gold loan software page. What makes jewel lending its own problem is the other half: you are holding somebody's jewellery, often several pieces at once, and you have to give back exactly what you took. This page is about that half.

One pledge, several pieces

Two chains, a ring and a pair of earrings are four articles, not one line reading "gold, 42 g". Each is entered on its own with a description, gross weight, the weight of stones and wastage, and its purity as a karat. The valuation adds them up; the custody record keeps them apart.

Purity and weight, recorded once and never guessed again

Purity is chosen as a karat rather than typed as a fraction, so it matches the rate board directly and nothing is scaled twice. Net weight is gross minus stones and wastage — the figure the valuation actually prices. Both are written on the article, not on the loan, so a year later the record still says what you weighed rather than what the total came to.

Photographs attach at the same moment and pair to the article you were on. A photo that fails to upload does not fail the loan; the pledge is written either way and the picture can be added afterwards.

Storage: which locker, and how full

Articles go into named lockers with a capacity, so the strongroom stays legible as it fills. Every move — in at pledge, between lockers, out at redemption — writes a movement, and movements are appended rather than edited. That is what lets you answer "where is my bangle?" in seconds and prove where it has been if it is ever disputed.

Redemption returns the pieces, not just the balance

When the loan is settled the articles are released together and their custody entries close. The system will not let you release jewellery that is still standing against money, which is the mistake that costs a shop a customer. Renewals extend the loan and leave the jewellery where it is; part payments reduce the balance without touching custody at all.

For the interest, part payment and renewal mechanics behind that, see gold loan software. For the counter workflow the whole thing sits inside, see pawn shop software, and for the reports that reconcile it, gold loan management software.
